Saanich Waterfront Real Estate

Saanich is an historic, vibrant district, spanning a vast space in the Victoria area.  Approximately 110,000 residents comprise the dynamic community, which also includes the University of Victoria and the Landsdowne Campus of Camosun College.  Because of the expansive nature of this municipality, a diverse range of residential, commercial, recreational, and entertainment abound.

The Saanich Centennial was celebrated in 2006, and sparked a series of community initiatives and activities designed to ensure that the community remains inclusive, aware, and motivated to improve not only local, but international, conditions.  Zomba Kidz is a Saanich programme inaugurated with the Centennial commemoration, and administers an internationally-acclaimed aid outreach to children living in Malawi.

Saanich is one of the more urban districts in the Victoria area, although many Saanich neighbourhoods are designed around a village model, with small but convenient commercial hubs serving residential subdivisions.  Cadboro Bay is one of several such neighbourhoods, where schools from primary through secondary and post-secondary are walking distance away, and full-service shopping and entertainment is equally close-at-hand.

While developed, Saanich is also environmentally conscious, and home to oceanfront homes, numerous parks and outdoor recreation sites, including Mount Douglas Park.  Arbutus and Garry Oak are preserved and showcased in these parks, and conservation is an essential element of the community.

Accessibility is an official and a practical priority to Saanich residents, and public buildings are conscientiously seeking uniform accessibility through establishing viable entrances and exits, and upgrading existing facilities to meet higher standards.  Saanich seeks a leadership role in community development, and has been an original partner in the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia’s Safer Cities Project.
